Canadian Immigration Resources

Posted By Admin on February 17, 2008 @ 5:37 pm

I have always lived in Canada for my whole life, and I have been very blessed with the life that I have had here.  Out of all the places I have traveled, I am always happy to come home to my country – I think it is one of the greatest places on the planet.

Okay, so I might be a bit biased, but if you were to travel here, you would see what I mean.  For those of you out there that are in the process of immigrating to Canada, you might just not know what to expect.

I have some help for you.

You see, there are some places online that offer a citizenship practice test so you know what to expect for the written part of your application.  Sure, they don’t give you the exact answers, but you will have a feel for the types of questions that you will be asked – and that can make you a little less nervous.

The same thing goes for the Canadian immigration interview – you can find samples of them too.  Sure, you still might be a bit nervous (who isn’t at an interview), but it will help you to prepare – you could even practice with a friend.

I still have one more thing for you: the G1 practice test.  If you would like to be able to drive in Canada, you will need to take the G1 driving exam – and having the questions beforehand makes it a bit easier.

So, if you are immigrating to Canada, take advantage of the above resources.  It will make the likelihood of being accepted greater – and that edge could make the difference between making it and failing to be approved.

European Travel Cheat Sheet

Posted By Admin on February 16, 2008 @ 2:00 pm

I can remember back in the days of college, writing up cheat sheets to help study for the exams.  They would be written in really small text, but full of useful, and essential knowledge.  I don’t think that I would have attained the marks that I did without the use of this invaluable resource, and I thought that I would never see cheat sheets again.

Well, I was wrong.

You see, when I told my aunt that I was going to Europe for a vacation, she told me that she would give me the ultimate cheat sheet.  I had to ask her why I would need something like that.

The sheet she gave me had the best restaurants, points of interest, and cheap car hire firms across Europe.  It was to be my guide while traveling.

Though, I didn’t make it to all the places she had laid out for me, I was especially happy with both the cheap car hire Spain and cheap car hire France companies that she referred me to.  They were almost half the price of the regular car rental companies.

Who knew that I would ever use cheat sheets again…

Interweb: A Forum for Technology Lovers

Posted By Admin on February 10, 2008 @ 7:15 pm

Up until recently, I had never really heard of forums before.  Most of the time that I spent online was to check my emails and play a few online games – that was about it.  But while shopping at an India gadget website, I noticed that they had a link to a forum in their sponsored links – and I had to take a look.

I found myself at a mobile forum website.  Basically, they talked about mobile devices like cell phones and PDAs – which I have always been fascinated in.  Not only did they have reviews of specific devices, but they also provided links to sites that offered good deals on mobile devices.

I made the mistake of checking out the gaming forum on the site (video games are my weakness) and spent a couple of hours checking things out.  Definitely a good resource for those of you out there that love gaming.

Well, all I can say, is that I am happy that I found the forum and I was sure to add it to my bookmarks.  I really like the fact that they cater to people like me: technology lovers.

Looking For Small Quantity Wholesale

Posted By Twyla on February 9, 2008 @ 3:05 pm

I am looking for a good website that sells Canadian scrapbook supplies. I am interested in buying in bulk at wholesale prices, so as to be able to sell products from my home. I live in a small town and there are no scrapbooking supplies available, so I think that a small home business would do well.

I did a quick search on scrapbook supplies Canada, to find companies that would be willing to sell at wholesale prices and mail the product to a post office box. I was very surprised at the quantity that has to be ordered to get the wholesale prices.

I knew that there had to be more scrapbooking supplies Canada out there, so I continued my search. As I am just starting out, I do not have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on supplies. I also don’t have the space required to store it all. I am still on my quest and I know I will find what I am looking for, eventually.

Finding Credit Cards With Travel Rewards

Posted By Admin on @ 11:54 am

I have had only two credit cards for the longest time and they have served me well.  Quite simply, I have owned a Visa and Mastercard for years, but neither of them give me any rewards.  After seeing my best friend Julie use her travel rewards credit cards to "pay" for trip after trip, I knew that I wasn’t making the best financial decisions in terms of my credit cards.

So what I did was check out some of the credit card offers that the banks in my area provided.  I was astonished that the offers were vastly different than one another, with some banks definitely promoting a better product.

What I ended up with was a credit card that gave both travel and shopping rewards.  There was a nominal yearly fee to have the card, but I figure that with the money that I save on travel, the card is a good fit for me.

Getting Together Tomorrow’s Task List

Posted By Admin on February 7, 2008 @ 9:33 pm

I know that I should be winding down the day but I wanted to get things in order for tomorrow.  For me, it helps to make a list of things to do for the next day, so that I can think about it while sleeping.  No, I don’t dream about work, but it gives my brain a chance to prioritize tasks so that I can proceed with my day tomorrow in a more organized fashion.

Lately, I have been sitting on a couple of vacant units in a four-plex that I own.  I just got around to putting an ad in the paper a few days ago, and I have already had about five people come and look at it – with four of them interested in renting.

So, my big task for tomorrow will be to do tenant credit checks and make sure that they will be able to pay rent.  This is one of the two tasks I do to check if I want a person to rent from me or not.

The second task that will have to wait until tomorrow evening will be to check tenant referencing and see what the references of these applicants say.  I am hoping that things go well and that I can rent out these two units in the next couple of days, but who knows…. maybe the people that looked at the units are not the right match for me.  I’ll just have to wait to see how tomorrow turns out.

New Uniforms at the Cafe

Posted By Admin on @ 7:31 pm

I was out today for coffee with my buddy Joe.  For those of you who do not know him, Joe runs a successful café in town and we get together periodically to talk about business.  He didn’t have a lot of time today, so he suggested that we meet at his café to talk.

The first thing that I noticed when I walked into his coffee shop was that his staff were all wearing new custom T shirts.  Not only did they look good, but there is definitely something about entering a work establishment and seeing the consistency of staff apparel – it looks very professional.

When I did meet Joe, and we sat down, I had to ask him "Did you design your own T shirt?".

Surprisingly, he said yes.  Now if you know Joe, you know he isn’t the most artistic person in the world, but it was good to see what he had done.  He told me that he found a place that would let you make your own T shirt for a nominal fee.  Price wise, it was less expensive than getting golf shirts for everyone, and he had a lot of good feedback from his customers.

He also mentioned that he had seen some positive results in his sales numbers, though he wasn’t sure if that was attributed to the new uniforms, or just a result of ongoing business.  He was happy to give me the details of the company he had used, and I am now considering ordering new uniforms for my staff – I think it is time for a new look for my business.

Customizing My Cell Phone

Posted By Admin on February 6, 2008 @ 1:51 pm

I can remember my first cell phone that I had years ago.  Basically it was a basic phone with a big four types of ringtones – that was it.  Back in those days, you couldn’t download ringtones onto your phone – but thankfully it is not like that anymore.

For example, I just recently purchased a phone on the Sprint network.  With part of my signup package, they had special Sprint ringtones that I could download with my phone to customize it to my liking.  I have downloaded them all and am trying them out.

With all the music that I have on my computer, I have always wondered if there was anything I could do to transfer a song to be used as a ringtone.  While at a computer store yesterday, I found some software that would let you create MP3 ringtones to upload to your phone.  I bought it, and that is what I am going to try to do today.

Overcoming a Tragedy

Posted By Twyla on February 5, 2008 @ 2:41 pm

We are moving to a new home, as our last one was completely destroyed by a flash flood. The city’s sewers all overflowed in our area and there were many houses that were destroyed. We have decided to move on to higher ground, in hopes of avoiding this tragedy ever again. All I can say is thank goodness for private mortgage insurance.

The house that we are buying is worth more than the last one we lived in, so we have to take out a new and larger mortgage. We have been figuring different prices out on the mortgage calculator and have decided that we can afford this new one. It is also a lot bigger, so that is nice.

We are so fortunate that we had extra flood insurance on our last house, or we would not have got the full value for our house when it was destroyed. We are on higher ground now, but the flood insurance is not something that I am willing to skimp on. I love my new house, and although I am sad over everything that we lost, I am glad some good has been able to come out of the tragedy.

SubmitEdge.com for Article Submission

Posted By Twyla on February 4, 2008 @ 4:07 am

I have been learning a lot about link building over the past few months. I have always wanted to learn how to promote my sites and one day I decided to just sit down and learn. I must say that it has been quite successful. I am pleased with my results so far, but I know that I still have a lot left to learn.

I am presently looking into an article submission service, as I know it is one of the more effective ways for driving traffic to your site. It is amazing how much I have learned just by taking the initiative to do a little bit of research on the subject.

I started out just by finding out what article submission was all about and finding out about content sharing sites. It is a pretty diverse subject and there are so many to choose from. I am enjoying my self education on the subject and am hoping that it helps me to get better page rankings in the long run.
