For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a writer. I have been making up stories since I was a little girl, and now, as an adult, I still have a great imagination. I can spend hours entertaining children with my stories. When there was a creative writing class offered at our community college, I knew I had to take it.
I was doing so well and was getting a lot of compliments form the teacher on my work. I told her that I had been doing this very thing for as long as I could remember and that creative writing would never be a challenge for me. She just nodded her head and smiled with a sparkle in her eyes.
The next week, we were given the assignment to write a piece of creative non-fiction work. Okay, I admit that I was finally challenged. As it had to be non-fiction, I could no longer just rely on imagination. The story had to contain facts and I had a difficult time writing it. I was finally challenged and it felt great.
