Proving Your SEO Skills

Posted By Admin on July 11, 2008 @ 2:14 pm

One of the coolest things about marketing a website for me is watching the fruits of my marketing efforts.  Whether this is as simple as watching the traffic increase for my website, or seeing that the number of backlinks to a specific web page increase, any indication that what I am doing is working makes me very happy.

But when you tell your friends you have five thousand backlinks to your site, does anyone care?  Chances are that they don’t, but if you happen to have a bunch of friends that are webmasters, that might just be a different story.

For those of you who want to prove to the world(and yourself) that you are a true SEO master, you might want to try out the Busby SEO Challenge.  It is a contest put on by Busby Web Solutions, is you chance to prove that you know SEO inside and out.  There are prizes on the line to the tune of $5000 for first place, $2000 for second and $500 for third.

If you think you have what it takes and want to have a shot to enter the contest, there is still time to do so.  Take a look at this blog to learn anchor: More About Busby SEO Challenge.

Doing a Little Home Renovation

Posted By Admin on @ 9:58 am

One of the nicest things that I have experienced from owning my own home is that I can make any renovations that I would like without fear of a landlord getting angry with me.  It is nice to have that feeling that it is your own home and that you can have some say in what it is like.

So, my wife and I decided this summer that the existing showers in our home needed to be replaced.  The reasoning behind this is that we have a small water heater, and you can never really stay in the shower cubicles for more than a couple of minutes before all the hot water is gone.

I have really hated this part of our home as I love to have a long, hot shower.  So we are going to go out to the store today to look at some electric showers – they’ll heat the water without having to depend on the small capacity of our little water heater.

Oh, I can’t wait for a nice, hot shower…  hopefully we will be able to pick one up and install it today.

Packing for a Camping Trip

Posted By Admin on July 7, 2008 @ 12:52 pm

We have been planning a camping trip for a long time and I think that we finally might just get to go.  I was able to get some time off of work for a change, and it will be a good experience for our children.

But while checking out some of our Coleman camping gear, I realized that our stove had a leak.  In fact, it was so bad that I needed the fire extinguisher to put the little fire out.  So, I guess we will have to buy a new stove before we go.

We are going to setup the tent later today, and hopefully it is okay too.  Otherwise, this camping trip might end up being a little more expensive than we were expecting.

Needless to say, it will be nice to have a break from work – it has been far too long.

Playing Lego Star Wars 2 with my Son

Posted By Admin on July 5, 2008 @ 7:59 pm

Between work and having kids, I don’t get a lot of time to sit down and play video games.  In most cases, my son wants to play with me too, but most of the games I have are just not appropriate for his five year old mind.

But when I saw Lego Star Wars 2 at the store, I knew that it would be a perfect game for us to play.  You see, according to the reviews that I had read, I knew that it would be perfect for his five year old mind.

What I didn’t take into account was that it was harder than I thought.  Part of it was due to the reaction time of my son (being five, he wasn’t the most coordinated player), and we got stuck on a couple of missions.

So, we used some Lego Star Wars 2 cheats that we found online to make the game a little easier.  We had a great time and I think that we will make it a regular father and son time.
