The acai berry is named one of the best superfruits because it has so many vitamins, nutrients, minerals and almost everything that your body would need to be healthy. Health is important to most people and if they can eat something natural that is good for them, then most people would prefer it to taking pills. The first thing that people often learn about the acai berry is the fact that it has lots of antioxidants. There are debates about whether the acai berry contains more antioxidants than any other fruits. Some say that it does but others believe that there are other fruits, others of the often called superfruits, that have even more antioxidants than the acai berry.

A high level of anthocyanins are found in the acai berry. One of the main anthocyanins in the berry is called cyanidin-3-glucoside or C-3-G for short and the other is called cyanidin-3-rutinoside. There are many other antioxidants such as polyphenols. The presence of lots of potent antioxidants make the acai berry one of the best things that you can eat to make yourself healthy.

Many people take supplements that contain essential fatty acids. The acai berry is good source of essential fatty acids. The acai berry is a small berry but about 50 percent or more of its dry weight is fat. If you were to extract oil from the acai berry, then you will find that the acai berry’s fat is about 60 percent monounsaturated and 13 percent polyunsaturated. This makes the fatty acids profile of the acai berry similar to that of olive oil.

Your body also needs protein. Fortunately, the acai berry is also high in protein content. This makes the acai berry unique since most fruits are not good sources of protein. Some acai berry has very similar protein profile to an egg. However, not all acai berries are alike in terms of protein content. Some have higher and others have lower. This depends on the acai palm trees that they grow on.

When talking about the nutritional profile of the acai berry, you cannot forget that the acai berry has a lot of vitamins in it. There are many vitamins including vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E. The acai berry is also low in sugar which makes it good for anyone watching their sugar intake.
