You might be a golf beginner looking for your first set of golf clubs and equipment or a pro shopping for upgrades, but all will agree that golf bags are essential in the game. Next to golf clubs, a golf bag is one of the most important golfing equipment there is.

A good golf bag eases any worries you might have where golf club containment is concerned. (Allowing you to focus on teeing.)

If you’re a beginner golfer, then golf bags are definitely a must. However, there are things that you should know before going to the nearest golf store and buying a golf bag on impulse. First, there are two types of golf bags? carry bags and cart bags.

Carry bags are golf bags used when you do a lot of walking on the golf course. Cart bags are used when walking is not allowed or possible on the course and your only option is to use a golf cart. More than likely you will end up with both types of bags, as golf courses will have different rules.

Someone new to golf might ask themselves what a golf bag is for. A golf bag is used for many different Functions. Not only does it carry your golf clubs, it also carries golf equipment and accessories needed. You may also find golf bags that come equiped with a cooler that keeps your drink ice-cold for hours.

When you decide to buy a golf bag, make sure it is a comfortable one. Make sure the strap fits comfortably and the golf bag is easy to carry. You will be spending many hours with your golf bag, so remember to choose wisely. Try to avoid purchasing low quality bags. Last thing you want to do is to have to buy another bag a few months later. Most golf bags carry up to 15 golf clubs, so you will want to purchase a bag depending on how many golf clubs you plan to carry.

You also need to consider the weight of the golf bag before purchasing. Golf bags should be sturdy enough to hold all your golf clubs, yet be light enough for carrying or use in a golf cart. You will even find some golf bags that are resistant to water. This is useful if you happened to be playing golf in the rain. Water resistant bags will most of the time have only 8 or 9 dividers to help protect your clubs. However, keep in mind this type of golf bag tends to be heavier and more expensive.

Good rule of thumb; the lighter the golf bag, the better and more comfortable you will be.
