These days, it’s difficult to make it in Hollywood unless you’ve got famous or influential parents to pull some strings and get you a break. But does this mean these stars don’t deserve their fame? Miley Cyrus (nicknamed because she was always smiling!) is the star of the hit Disney show Hannah Montana.

Her character’s name is Miley Stewart and she juggles a duo role as a high school teenager and a singing superstar. This show is a great hit because Disney deals in the “wish factor” business and most kids would love to be Hanna Montana.

Miley’s Dad is famous country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who had the number 1 hit in 1992 with “Achy Breaky Heart”. To prove that she can really sing, Miley has even performed with her dad at some of his concerts!

Miley’s first shot at musical fame came when the first Hannah Montana album was released in 2007. The album was a 2 disc set and the second disc was all Miley’s solo songs. She even wrote 8 out of the 10 songs on the disc!

Her second album titled “Breakout” was released in 2008 and does not include her persona of Hannah Montana. This album is still aimed at her teenage fans and also attracts the “tweens” who want to feel grown up by listening to her music. She has writing credits for 8 of the 12 songs performed.

More recently, Miley has wanted to focus more and more on her music career rather than just acting. She teamed up with Disney at the end of 2007 to go on her first solo tour – performing live for the first time as Hanna Montana and Miley Cyrus. The tour is often thought to be one of the reasons her albums reached such high chart positions. Her first album reached number 2 on the Billboard charts and her second album topped the charts at number 1!

The tour was called the “Best of Both Worlds” tour, after her hit television theme song. It started on October 18 2007 and ended March 9 2008 during which she played an exhausting 71 shows! It was worth it, though… the tour raked in over $36 million dollars!

Although she could stay an actress and grow up with the Disney channel watchers she does have musical talent and wants to focus on that aspect of her life. She has also contributed to a couple of soundtracks. Her music for the hit television show Hanna Montana and also for the movie “Bolt” with a duet that includes John Travolta. The song is titled, “I Thought I Lost You.”

Miley’s desire to become a musician might have been the influence of her dad, but her success is purely down to a great talent and a lot of hard work!
