Recently a real estate tycoon in off of the east coast purchased a tiny island which he intends to develop into a vacation resort. The developer has been accessing the property for surveying purposes and it was decided that the island would house a small hotel, a golf course and there would be brick retaining walls all around the property to serve as a visual enhancement. After the contractor surveyed the property the owner was presented with another daunting task he hadn’t quite prepared for, how was he going to get all the materials from the mainland to the island? Also another task, how would he get the guests onto the island? The solution was quite simple; he needed to buy some pontoon boats. This would solve his dilemma and after the pontoon boats were done transporting the necessary building materials, he could hire staff to transport the guests on them as well, he had found dual purposes for purchasing pontoon boats.

He went into town the following day and located a boating dealer; there he was able to immediately secure the purchase of three pontoon boats. He ordered a larger, more elaborate pontoon boat to be delivered at a later date for guest transportation. The construction pontoons were basic models equipped with fourteen feet of open working space, which is just what the contractors needed when they had to build the rock retaining walls that were to surround the property. The pontoon boats were open and provided a platform for work space as well as stability. Construction began two weeks ago on the retaining walls, and the crew is working quickly and efficiently to try and complete all the work on a timely basis.

The workers found the pontoons especially helpful when they needed to berth in shallow waters, if they had any other type of boat, this wouldn’t be possible. But with the pontoon boats greater versatility, the workers are able to get where they need to go around the island with relative ease. The contractors are able to lay out their blueprints and work directly from the deck of the boat without fear of tipping over or falling into the water because of an unstable working platform. The pontoon boats are serving all of their needs quite well, the contractors are so impressed by the strength and durability of the pontoon boats that they are going to invest in a small fleet of pontoon boats to use the next time they receive a contract for marine construction.

The completion of the island project was done within the time frame set. Our businessman was so happy and impressed with this crew that he gave them a wonderful bonus, in thanks of a job well done. With the beautiful rock wall surrounding the resort, the owner was pleased with his investment. He was also happy with his pontoon boats. Without them the materials being transported to the island would have been a big headache. This is the time where pontoon boats are being used more for work projects than recreation. It is the best of both worlds, work and recreation. Many uses of pontoons are starting to be noticed by all.
