Beautiful Kitchen Decor That Is Also Practical

Posted By Arnold Hammerstone on May 28, 2009 @ 8:20 am

Here are a few simple tips that will help you keep your kitchen functional as well as beautiful.

Be creative with glass displays. If you have glass pane cabinets, display some pretty wineglasses on the second shelf and keep the use everyday items on the bottom. You can also install extra racks that will allow you to hang some of those beautiful wineglasses. You should consider changing the decorative items in your cabinet with the changing season. You should also change the other decorations in your kitchen with the changing seasons. This includes your apron, potholders, tea towels, and other decorative items. You can have holly and mistletoe hanging around Christmas, fake bats and pumpkins around Halloween, hearts and flowers for Valentine’s Day, etc…

Keep the top of your refrigerator clean. A modest display of books, especially cookbooks can be quite attractive. When you keep them at an arm’s reach it increases the amount of tasty treats that will make an appearance. Using decorative bookends makes your space looks beautiful and will also ensure that your books aren’t falling all over the place.

When it comes to your counter top, there are two types of people. Some people like to keep their counter top completely clear and then other people like to see everything that they own gadget wise out and ready for action. You should sit in the middle of these two types of people. If you use something almost everyday, such as a coffee pot or your food processor every night with supper, then keep it out. On the other hand if your new state of the art blender is only being used once a week or only for the holidays find a home for it within your cabinet space hidden below the scenes. Remember though that items that you have on top of your counter can also be clustered into categories that are relative to their function. If in the morning you make toast and coffee, and then have them plugged into the same outlets as they will make lovely companions to each other. If you’re a mother that cooks every night, your food processor and electric can opener would make another great cluster with the same outlet.

Plants are a very positive addition to your kitchen. If you have a window in your kitchen and the available counter space, add a bit of life with a plant. If you can’t remember to water them, set an alarm on your cell phone once a week that says to water plants. Everybody has a cell phone now a day and uses the alarm or calendar features on them quite frequently. A plant doesn’t only look beautiful, but it cleans the air of the pollution and gives you oxygen in the atmosphere.

A kitchen rug can be a great solution for a kitchen that has damaged or worn out floors. These rugs can also help keep someone from slipping on the floor when it is wet and is an added comfort when you are standing for a long period of time in front of the counter, stove, or sink. Rugs are often placed at the front door whenever you come in, in front of the refrigerator or even in front of the sink for extra comfort while you do the dishes.

The Dapper Dotted Dog: The Dalmatian!

Posted By Chris Warwick on @ 8:09 am
by Chris Warwick

The Dalmatian is a medium-sized dog with a big reputation, because it holds the title of being the only spotted dog in the world. Known to many people because Disney once featured it in several animated and live-action films, we have come to appreciate its proportioned body, outstanding stamina, and lean, clean lines. The short-haired, densely-packed coat is pure white with black or liver spots splashed randomly all over the body.

The Dalmatian is lively, nimble, full of life and very smart. They are terrific performance animals, owing to their history as a working and sporting breed, but they are also superb family pets. They are reasonably territorial, but not blatantly aggressive, pleasant to live with, and are very devoted to their masters.

This sturdy breed does not need a lot of maintenance in their day to day upkeep. They should not be ignored or left by themselves in a yard chain for long periods of time”they are best kept in a household environment. They love people, and enjoy being cared for and bask in the affection of their owners.

Dalmatians are said to come from Dalmatia, which is a Croatian historical region”although the exact origins are unclear”and spotted dogs have been seen throughout history in Europe, Asia and Africa, given a dozen nationalities and as many names. The Dalmatian has had many jobs over the years: he has been a ratter, firehouse mascot, shepherd, bird dog, trail hound, retriever, draft dog, and even a dog of war! Most distinctive among these jobs is that he is the sole coach dog, having a natural affinity for horses, and up to this day he is inclined to follow and guard the horse-drawn vehicle.

The Dalmatians expression is normally alert and intelligent, showing a tranquil but sociable nature and a lively, sociable temperament. With their ability to reach very high speeds, incredible stamina, and high levels of energy, they need lots of exercise everyday! They are extremely trainable, up to very high levels of obedience, but they also need firm authority figures who can consistently train them.

Young Dalmatians are very active and need a strong, authoritative hand from their trainers and exercise. In a few years, they will calm down, if they are shown the proper training and handling. Owners who stay on and keep them even after the active years will not regret their decision.

If you would like to adopt a Dalmatian, make sure you have the time, energy and are authority-driven enough to handle them! If not, they might become high strung, destructive, and hard to manage. If you lead a healthy, fit and active lifestyle, however, and you know what it takes to be a pack leader, then the Dalmatian is just perfect for you!

Really these days sky is the limit when you talk of quality, innovation and customer dealing. If even you pick out a seemingly bizarre profession like roofing that doesnt really attract public eye and attention with as much vengeance as other professions, it doesnt take away from roofing the kind of success it is now seeing.

Roofing has undergone vast changes and evolution in terms of designs, patterns, colors, topography, its impact on environment etc. and many other relevant factors. Given the varied tastes people can have about the kind of roof theyd like over their head, roofing has always had to prove its potential to its customers.

Besides, the fact that roof installation is very cumbersome and that one has to be physically very fit also makes it tough for roofing professionals. So but of course, it can be quite a thing. For instance, you cant have water or cement falling off a roof, so there!

Keeping all that in mind, Roofing has really come up. The prevalent roofing techniques and designs have shown amazing growth and progress. And nowadays, the preference is slowly moving towards newer metal roofs from the conventional shingle roofs and tiled roofs.

As can be seen, roofing is gaining much spotlight and focus now. With their energy saving capabilities, this roofing style can give rise to potential saving and benefits of economical living.

Additionally, the latest advent of roofing discussions and online spaces on roofing has paved the way for official recognition as regards this profession. This move is indeed helping to collect more visibility and goodwill for the roofing people.

Taking this talented bunch of workers towards better growth will be the next obvious step and this will expand their business potential. Also, with this will come greater confidence and roofing varieties to suit all weather conditions.

My confidence says that this will train the spotlight on roofing experts and companies in the coming times. This will further motivate us to bring out our choices in roofing and will also turn our tastes into significant reality. To put it this way, it will help us crown our house!

Do You Have A Moody Room?

Do you have the right ambiance for each room in your house? Have you set the vibes to make the rooms effectively functional? You may believe in spirits and the power the universe has that can trigger a certain aura, but believe it or not, YOU can set the mood in your living space.

Being in a room and feeling immediately at ease signifies you have done the right thing in making the room cozy and inviting. On the other hand, a room despite being attractive may lack warmth that can cause the occupants to feel uncomfortable.

Colors, furniture and decorations are elements that can set the mood. Creating the proper atmosphere depends on the usage or functionality of the room. For instance, the bedroom should have a relaxing atmosphere, the living room a welcoming feel and the kitchen a warm and cozy ambiance reminiscent of family quality time. The choice in these decorating elements can instantly uplift, enhance or weaken the mood. Depending too on the aura you want to convey, you can alter the decorating elements. Changing the color, rearranging the furniture, replacing the fabrics and either adding or eliminating objects are just some of the things you can do.

Aside from the right color, the furniture and accents can also be used to set a mood for a space. A tranquil and cozy mood can be done can be done with clean-lined furniture and monochromatic design elements. Meanwhile, a formal mood can be done by using furniture with modern, minimalist or contemporary designs. Whichever one you choose, just be sure to be consistent and to stick to using just that aesthetic for the entire space.

Creating a mood or enhancing one is affected by the use of area rugs. Because rugs are eye-catchers, they can set the pace on how a room feels. The variety in colors and designs makes it easy as well to create a mood of your choice. Brightly-colored area rugs or those in big geometric patterns are mood-boosters if you want a cheery, full of life ambiance. Dark-colored rugs with lush fabric or intricate designs are winners for making a space have a formal and elegant feel.

Always keep in mind that in setting the right mood for a particular room, especially if the room has a special purpose. Be consistent with your aesthetic; if you bought one sofa with a certain look in mind, you have to stick to that look the whole way. A single mismatched item can bring the whole look crashing down, so it’s very important to plan the color and furniture for each room to be able to achieve the desired outcome.

Victorian Elegance; Modern Budget

Posted By Lucy Lee on @ 7:39 am
by Lucy Lee

If elegance is what you’re after, a Victorian-inspired interior design is perfect for you. The refined details, grand decors and the classy ambiance will make your home reminiscent of the mansions during the Victorian era.

Decorating ala-Victorian style can be affordable. Without the need to use the same expensive decorative items, you can duplicate the same look with alternatives and with the application of basic Victorian decorating techniques. One of the major points in Victorian design is the use of ornament or intricate details in the objects. Brass material is a common sight in this style, but as genuine brass can be expensive, you can opt for replicas for a lot less. Brass looks great for doors, drawers, cabinets and chests.

Dark colors are also the shade of choice for a Victorian home. The grandeur of the interiors is emphasized with the formal and sophisticated look dark and rich colors give.

Moldings and plaster decorations are also part of the aesthetic in the typical Victorian home. Instead of plaster, you could now get ornamental cornices from craft or builders’ stores for much less and then install them yourself. A little work with power tools and a small paint job should be all you’ll need to get you that very expensive-looking upper-class English look.

Most Victorian homes featured stained glass windows, particularly in the receiving areas and the drawing rooms. Instead of taking the full-price route with actual windows made of stained glass, you could opt for cheaper stained glass accents and ornaments instead. Stained glass trinkets are usually very inexpensive, especially if you frequent flea markets. Installing a lamp with a lamp shade of stained glass is another practical way of simulating the tricks of the light created by stained glass windows.

Carpet flooring is a typical sight in a Victorian home. In order to enhance the flooring, add some area rugs, especially in the rooms frequented by people, where looks count the most. Area rugs are also great as stand-alone, so even if you don’t go for wall-to-wall carpeting, floors will never look bare with area rugs to enhance the entire space.

You may or may not feel good about using dark hues for your home. There are indeed people who get easily affected by the sight of dark colors. Some feel gloomy while others feel lethargic. If you’re one of them, you can rectify this by going a bit modern and adding lighter colors to complement the dark shades. You can paint one end of the wall with the dark tone to keep up with the Victorian theme then paint the rest with a pastel shade. Or you can add decorative strokes or linings using a lighter color. Just remember, going Victorian means having to let go of the idea of a rainbow-colored house. Even if you can integrate lighter colors, don’t go overboard with too bright colors and ruin the Victorian look you’re trying to create. Even the fabrics of a Victorian home are more in the dark, deep shades so that explains the importance of the shady colors in this theme.

Just because the Victorian era was all about expensive elegance doesn’t mean that duplicating it has to be just as expensive. With a bit of creativity and a lot of shopping smarts, you could easily make your home look about as sophisticated and luxurious as any English countryside estate.

Get My Wife Back With Secretive Mind Games

Posted By Alex Anders on @ 6:41 am
by Alex Anders

When you go through a break up things are hard. I know I felt unimaginable pain, maybe you are too. A solution is needed here very quickly. A solution to get your ex back.

Did you know most breakups can be halted and turned around. Even if you think it’s dead and buried, you may be wrong. There are many systems on the net to do just this, turn a breakup right around.

I tried a system like this when my wife dumped me. After a lot of surfing I discovered a few of these systems. They seemed to come highly recommended so I gave them a go.

They both cost me in the region of about forty bucks. I figured my wife was worth many times that. I’m sure you feel the same about your ex, be it a wife or girlfriend.

What was inside these systems surprised me a lot. The psychological tactics section sure opened my eyes. I’d never had experience of psychological mind games.

I was surprised, but pleasantly surprised though. I began to believe that these systems might work. Maybe I could get my wife back using this stuff.

The first step was a surprising one in my view. The system said leave her a cryptic message. I had to explain how well I was doing and to say thanks.

According to instructions, she would get curious and then make contact. It worked to my amazement, she called back. She was curious as to why I would thank her and what I was doing.

I said the breakup had made me see sense and I thanked her for it. The underlying tactic of course was to get her to make that call back to me. I was fairly taken aback when she returned my call within 24 hours.

That’s the first step taken care of, on the step two. Step two involved inviting her out for coffee somewhere together. After having a few coffees she was starting to be comfortable with this.

I wanted her to take the next step of a meal together. She moved from coffee to a restaurant meal pretty smoothly. Going from a phone conversation to a meal would be a bit of a stretch.

I imagine the picture is becoming clearer now, every little step being easy to take. Every little step should not be a stretch as she’s feeling at ease by now. We then have to move to the next little step.

In my plan to get my wife back we went through 5 or 6 of these steps. You may go through more or less steps as everyone’s plan will be slightly different. Most importantly though is your system and following the steps.

All in all it took about six or seven weeks to get us back together. I always always obeyed the rule in the system. And it worked very well for me. Well worth the money I spent.

I can reiterate what you need to get your ex back is a proven step by step system. I used two & have done a brief review of both on my web site. There’s a video course review there that worked for a friend of mine as well.

I Used A Psychological Trick To Get My Husband Back, Could You?

Having a breakup is like having a waking nightmare. Nobody else can feel your pain, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. A solution is needed hime very quickly. A solution to get your husband back.

Most people are not aware that the majority of splits can be stopped. If you believe the marriage or partnership is really over, you might be surprised. There’s lots of info on system that will save a breakup on the net.

I tried a system like this when my husband dumped me. After some research I found a couple of these systems. They seemed to come highly recommended so I gave them a go.

They both cost me in the region of about forty bucks. I thought my husband is definitely worth it. I figure you must also feel your husband is worth it.

What was inside these systems surprised me a lot. The psychological tactics section sure opened my eyes. I had never experienced any psychological stuff like this before.

I was pleasantly surprised by this stuff. The more I read the more I believed they could work. Maybe I could get my husband back using this stuff.

The initial step was quite a puzzling one for me. Step one was to leave a mysterious message on his answer phone. I had to explain how well I was doing and to say thanks.

The system said the call should get him curious enough to get back to me quickly. I was quite startled when he phoned the next day. Curious about the message, he wanted to know why I said thanks.

I said the split had made me grow up & see sense for once. Behind the message though, my aim was to get him to return my call. I was fairly taken aback when he returned my call within 24 hours.

The next step was to get him onto the next step. I was hoping he would agree to go for a coffee with me. After having a few coffees he was starting to be comfortable with this.

I wanted him to take the next step of a meal together. Taking a step from coffee to a meal should be fairly easy for him. Going from a phone conversation to a meal would be a bit of a stretch.

I’m sure you are starting to get the idea here. Coax him into comfortable small steps. Each small step being easy to take as he is very comfortable with it. We then have to move him to the next little step.

In my plan to get my husband back we went through 5 or 6 of these steps. You may go through more or less steps as everyone’s plan will be slightly different. What’s very important though is the system itself, and following each & every step.

After about six weeks we were well on the way back to being a couple again. I followed the system rules very closely. I think it was a great investment as it did exactly as it claimed it would.

To sum up, a step by step system is exactly what you need to get your husband back. On my friends website there’s a review of both systems that I bought. You can also find a review of a video course that worked well for a colleague of mine.

Family Time = Movie Time

Posted By Michael Denton on @ 6:02 am
by Michael Denton

The family room is one of the more fun rooms in the home to redecorate. All of the family members can have input into the decorating process and even have a part of the room that is theirs. One of the reasons that the family room is fun to redecorate is that the room can be themed. And the theme can be anything the family agrees on. There are ways to reflect almost any theme chosen-from music to animals to space.

A family room makes for a great entertainment space because this is where the family hang out and have fun. Watching TV or movies is a common family get-together time. Similarly, entertaining guests is easily done in the family room where watching movies is also a quick recreation. It’s perfect therefore, to have a more than the usual den. If budget permits, a wall-size screen or any flat screen TV is ideal for a real home movie experience. Match it with a great audio system and remote control features for a real relaxing viewing time.

Since lots of people will use the room from time-to-time-family members, adult guests, kids’ sleepovers, etc-you will want to have plenty of seating. Reclining chairs, comfortable couches, reclining love seats will all make viewing more enjoyable. Arrange the seating so that everyone has a view of the screen. If the seating can have receptacles for drinks, etc so much the better.

Making your family room dim from the outside light guarantees a maximum movie theater effect. Have drapes or window blinds and dense window covering. Without beams of sunlight streaming in, the family room will look like a real movie theater. However, make sure that there is still ample lighting. You might do things other than watch movies. As a family room, this is a space for fun activities like playing board games, reading and well, just bumming around, really. A nice standing lamp also makes a good addition for a not too dark space (maybe your child is still afraid of the dark) but dim enough to give off a cozy look.

Decorate the rooms with colorful items to make it look more cheerful. Not because a movie theater is generally dark that you would turn your family room into a somber place. The entertainment center is already sufficient furnishing to fill the room. The big screen is more than enough to make it impressive. But you can inject colors in chairs as previously mentioned, and in wall decors. You can use real movie posters or drawn art by the kids, especially those movie-related. It can be Spiderman, your son’s favorite superhero or the ever popular Sesame Street gang. Wall hanging can also be posters of favorite movie and television actors, or even your own family photos. After all, this is a family room. What better way to make it right to the point than by showing off your family’s stuff?

Infuse colors too in the form of area rugs, sleeping bags and blankets. Expect slumber parties and late-night movie marathons, so having ready materials for lounging around helps make everyone feel comfortable.

Because a lot of movies will be shown in this room, the window coverings need to be so dense that all outside light can be filtered out. The room lighting needs to be adjustable from “off” to “bright.” When the movie screen isn’t on and people want to play cards or games or read, the lighting should accommodate. Individual footlocker type storage chests could hold games or books or activities for various family members and each member could decorate their own “treasure chest.” A bookcase with shelves and doors could hold videos, CD’s, games, cards, etc.

Have some storage for the board games, reading materials, CDs and DVDs. Make the family room comfortable by getting it organized. Without things lazily strewn around, the room will look better and feel more relaxing. If there’s anything to be lying around in heaps if you want to, are throw pillows for more comfort factor.

How neat would it be for Mom to say, “It’s time to go to the movie”? And everyone follows the aroma of freshly popped popcorn into the next room, just in time to catch the house lights going down and the movie sound track coming up.

Creating Private Space In A Studio Apartment

Posted By Dean Martino on @ 6:02 am
by Dean Martino

Studio apartments are no strangers to the real estate industry. Singles, young professionals, students and budget-conscious people have been after studio apartments for years. It has actually become a sought-after apartment type, mainly because of its affordable price. It does come with another price though - the issue of decorating a limited space. Studio apartments have an open floor plan that makes multiple decorating themes and the luxury of having real separate rooms difficult to implement. Decorating a studio apartment therefore needs lots of ingenuity.

Create private spaces in a studio apartment by dividing the room with large furniture, beaded curtains, or privacy screens. Beaded curtains work well in areas where privacy is desired less than separation. Use this division between the areas you will use as living room and dining room. This will create art as well as separation.

A drawer, bookshelf and chest can be storage furnishings and space dividers while also becoming centerpieces of the room. Larger furnishings such as a bed and a couch are great aids for creating multiple spaces because they divide the areas effortlessly. In dividing areas, be reminded to have a focal point so that each space becomes its own room.

Area rugs can effectively enhance each space no matter how small. By placing an area rug with a distinct color, shape or pattern in each area, it can immediately become its focal point.

Lighting will also give privacy. In addition to a ceiling light, which will become the main source of light of the entire apartment, have separate lamps for each “room” to give a sense of privacy to the other space when only one area is used. It also helps better in relaxation. For your bedroom for example, you can just turn on the bedside lamp while reading in bed instead of using the ceiling light.

Hanging mirrors is one way to make the apartment look bigger. Utilizing dual or multi-purpose furniture will also save space. Examples are couch that can be a made into a bed or mattress, an ottoman with storage, a nice box as storage and as a decor.

If you already know how to divide the areas in the apartment, how much lighting is needed and how much space to allot, decorating becomes a breeze. Deciding on a color scheme will also make coordinating easier. Be creative as you can be. A limited space doesn’t entail your artistic side to be limited as well. With the right choice of decors, your small abode will be as impressive as any sprawling mansion.
