I’d like to think of myself as an avid photographer – pretty much everywhere I go, you can see me with my camera in hand. It has not only taken a lot of practice, but it has also meant that I have had to buy the right tools for the job at hand.
Take for example, the Canon PowerShot G9 camera that I purchased recently. I wanted to get a camera that was smaller, and not so large, so I bought the G9. The reason that I went that route is that I wanted a camera that had all the bells and whistles of a SLR but contained in a small package.
So far I am very happy with my choice – in fact, the next time you come over, I’d be happy to show you some of the perfect pictures that I have taken with my new camera.
If you have bought an HD TV including LCD or plasma televisions there is something that your sales person didn’t tell you. Now, it isn’t on purpose by any means, but it is a vital piece of information that you should know about your television.
If you haven’t noticed, the screen on your television is more delicate that your old tube television. This means that it is more susceptible to damage, and if you have kids, this can be a very big problem. If you didn’t purchase any sort of TV screen protection for your television, you have put it at risk.
I would suggest that you protect your investment and buy a tv screen protector from your local electronics store or online and protect your investment. They are inexpensive and are essential if you want to enjoy your new television for years to come.
In fact, do everyone a favor and go back to the store that you purchased the television and tell your salesperson about it.
I was watching a program on the television last night that was about wireless phone security. It detailed the stories of three people who were doing banking over the phone, and someone was able to get their information from eavesdropping on their conversations. That worried me a little bit, and I will use a regular land line for my banking on the phone from now on, but it got me thinking: how secure is my cell phone?
After doing a bit of research online, I found companies that offer gsm encryption that makes your call pretty much as secure as calling from a land line. I suppose that for normal phone calls to Aunt Betty, that is probably not that important, but for sensitive calls (such as telephone banking), it would definitely be something that is required.
So I have ordered some encryption software for my Nokia phone. I sure feel better knowing that no one will be able to find out what I talking about anymore. I would definitely suggest you get some for your phone as well - I wouldn’t want to be a victim of identity theft.
If you have kids, you’ve heard about Wii. If you’ve heard of Wii, you probably know what Wii Fitness is. I barely understand the technology of it but I’m super curious about the system at this point.
I’m physically limited in what I can and can’t do when it comes to exercise. Thanks to a bad spine with several fusions, disintegrating discs, and scoliosis, I can actually do quite a bit - in moderation.
Ok, so the point is that I dislike going to gym for the amount of money spent vs the amount of time I can actually use the facility. I’d rather do something at home and I already have a treadmill, but that gets boring when it is all I have.
So, with the Wii gizmos fitness thing - you get a step or platform like device that reads and measures your every move. Even just subtle ones and allows you to “play” along with instructors who run you through yoga or other physical fitness routines.
This not only looks like fun in a game type of way, but also seems like it could be a great work out that could be varied to keep me from getting bored. Guess I’ll have to wait and see if I get one any time soon!
I remember back to a day when it was so much simpler. That day is really not that long ago. If you think about it, people have been using the Internet only for the past fifteen years. I certainly remember when we weren’t even really using computers. I am not saying that technological evolution is a bad thing, it just makes the world we live in more complicated.
I was browsing through some website videos and this is what got me to thinking about how quickly our world changes now. It seems like computer technology is evolving form one day to the next. I remember buying a computer a couple of years ago and a few months after I bought it, it was obsolete.
It is kind of scary to me. When I was a child, we dreamed of the day when robots would do all of our work for us, such as cleaning our rooms. We are not quite that far yet, but I would have to say that we are not too far away from it. This is a good thing because my room could use a good cleaning.
As our business has grown, so have the technological and telephony needs of our company. We have grown from using just one single phone on a single line to having an office full of phones and a switchboard system. This growth has not been without its share of headaches.
We were worried that we were going to have problems when our company required a conference calling solution. At the time, we considered going with the highest bidder assuming that they would have the best solution. But, at the last minute, we went with the company that had most affordable and highly praised conference calling solutions.
We definitely made the right choice, and have only had one problem with their service. That was dealt with promptly by an efficient customer service department. Many of our staff have applauded our decision to go with the provider that we chose. We are very thankful that the affordable conferencing solution that we purchased has worked so well and been so beneficial to our business.
For Christmas this year, my husband wanted an oled television. I was not exactly sure what to get him, but I figured that I could take a trip down to the local electronics store and they would be more than happy to help me out. I got in my car and drove to The Brick to see what kind of information I could get from the salespeople there.
I went in and I asked them about the television that my husband wanted. The man that I was dealing with was very friendly and informative and he steered me towards a Sony oled that was on sale. He said it was a very good quality TV and that my husband would absolutely love it. I was sold. I figured I may as well buy it while it was on sale and be able to scratch it off my list of things to do before Christmas.
My next hurdle was to figure out exactly where I was going to hide it. He was really good at finding his presents and this one was very large. I ended up taking it to his parent’s house. When Christmas morning came around, I could tell that he was a little more than disappointed with the set of DVDs that I gave him. But, it was all worth it when we got to his parent’s house for dinner and there, in the living room was a Sony Oled TV with the game playing on it.
I thought I would be smart yesterday and try my hand at using DOS. If you have had a computer long enough, you would remember, that something as simple as typing in the wrong command could make you lose all your information.
Guess what I did?
Yes, I typed in the wrong thing. Angered, I decided to leave the computer until today when I could have some help. I had a friend come over to see if they could do a partition recovery and fix my computer.
Though my friend Chuck had never tried to recover data from deleted partition, he had been able to recover lost volumes in the past and he figured that it would be much the same.
After a couple of hours, Chuck had good news - he had fixed my computer. I guess I won’t try to use DOS anytime in the future - it just screws things up.
Now, I usually wouldn’t call myself a techie by any means, but when it comes to mobile phones, I would have to say that I kind of am one. Looking through the five years or so that I have had mobile phones, you would see a pattern of always upgrading to the next, newest model. Sure, I don’t have the money to burn, but I like to stay on the edge of the curve when it comes to technology.
Currently, I have been using an iPhone for some time now. If you looked in my home and vehicle, you would see a ton of iPhone accessories. If it has been made, chances are I have it. Some would call me a collector, but I do make an effort to use the accessories I have at least once a month.
Lately, I have been reading any iPhone news I can find to see what will be coming out in the future. Since I am trying to be a little more cautious with my spending, I want to see the reviews of the accessories and iPhone games that I am interested in before I spend any money. From what I have read, there are some nifty things on the horizon - so I better save my money up for them.
Up until recently, I had never really heard of forums before. Most of the time that I spent online was to check my emails and play a few online games - that was about it. But while shopping at an India gadget website, I noticed that they had a link to a forum in their sponsored links - and I had to take a look.
I found myself at a mobile forum website. Basically, they talked about mobile devices like cell phones and PDAs - which I have always been fascinated in. Not only did they have reviews of specific devices, but they also provided links to sites that offered good deals on mobile devices.
I made the mistake of checking out the gaming forum on the site (video games are my weakness) and spent a couple of hours checking things out. Definitely a good resource for those of you out there that love gaming.
Well, all I can say, is that I am happy that I found the forum and I was sure to add it to my bookmarks. I really like the fact that they cater to people like me: technology lovers.
